Wikipedia: David Zwirner is one of today’s leading art dealers, known for the careful long-term career management of some of the world’s most important and emerging artists, including Luc Tuymans, Neo Rauch, Stan Douglas, Raymond Pettibon, On Kawara, Lisa Yuskavage, Chris Ofili, and Marcel Dzama. New additions to the gallery include the 2006 Turner Prize-winner Tomma Abts, Adel Abdessemed, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Marlene Dumas, Suzan Frecon, the Estate of Alice Neel and Yan Pei-Ming. David Zwirner was incorporated in 1992. The gallery opened its doors in February 1993 on the ground floor of 43 Greene Street in SoHo. Marked by pioneering exhibitions by Stan Douglas, Jason Rhoades, Toba Khedoori, Rachel Khedoori, and Diana Thater, the early years established David Zwirner as a home for innovative, emerging artists working across media. Over the years, the gallery has helped foster the careers of some of the most influential artists working today, including Luc Tuymans and Neo Rauch, who both had their U.S. debut exhibitions at David Zwirner in 1994 and 2000 respectively. Much like its artists, David Zwirner has experienced extraordinary growth. In 2002, the gallery moved to 525 West 19th Street in Chelsea. Four years later, in 2006, it expanded from 10,000 to 30,000 square feet, adding spaces at 519 and 533 West 19th Street, allowing the gallery to mount three independent, full-scale exhibitions simultaneously. David Zwirner has recently broadened to include publishing, partnering with Steidl in 2007 to produce exhibition catalogues beginning with Jason Rhoades, Chris Ofili, Marcel Dzama, and Neo Rauch. Zwirner also heads Zwirner & Wirth, located at 32 E. 69th Street, where he focuses his energy on secondary market sales. Zwirner & Wirth represents the Estate of Fred Sandback and the Estate of Al Taylor. The gallery exhibits modern and contemporary masters, with past exhibitions by artists including: Georg Baselitz; Bernd & Hilla Becher; Chris Burden; Joseph Beuys; Dan Flavin; David Hammons; Martin Kippenberger; Konrad Klapheck; Agnes Martin; Juan Muñoz; Bruce Nauman; Claes Oldenburg; Blinky Palermo; Gerhard Richter; Fred Sandback; Richard Tuttle; Cy Twombly; Andy Warhol; John Wesley; Franz West; and H. C. Westermann. 2008 marked David Zwirner’s fifteenth year as a dealer.
